Bagus : Our country now has established an emergency crisis of drug abuse.
Rima : You’re right! Even our government has set the death penalty for drug distributors.
Aulia : We also have executed 4 people arrested on drug where 3 of them are foreigners, while one
is from Indonesia. Then they plan to execute 3 strangers more in the near future.
Nidia : But actually, I do not agree with what had done by our government.
Bayu : Nidia is true! There are so many strong reactions given by other countries. Even
Netherlands and Brazil has recalled their ambassador from Indonesia. They are angry
because their people were executed by the Indonesian government.
Riki : Government should revise the death penalty for drug seller.
Rima : I do not agree with you. I think the government has done right by providing the death
penalty for them.
Nidia : However, the death penalty is too cruel. They also have the right to live just like us.
bagus : Actually your opinion is acceptable, but don’t you think about the consequences which is
caused by their actions. Did you know they have been distributing drugs in our country?
Bayu : We should look for another way out because kill someone is very cruel.
Aulia : Kill one or two people are better than seeing thousands of people die because of drugs
which they distribute.
Rima : Did you know? According to data from BNN every 10 minutes, 5 Indonesian people die
because of drug abuse. Therefore, to prevent more victims we have to stop this problem
from the source of the problem.
Nidia : But, we have entered modern era in which the death penalty should be abolished. Even
some countries such as Brazil have abolished the death penalty. I’m concerned with the
response given by other countries against us.
Riki : Why we do not give them the opportunity to change or forgive them after they serve the
public.
Bagus : I still do not agree! Drugs are the enemy of our nation that must be resisted.
Rima : And, the government must also be firm. We should not be afraid of the other State
intervention. The death penalty should be continued so that they are afraid to distribute
drugs in our country.
Bagus : I totally agree with you.
Bayu : I still do not agree with these rules.
Riki : Enough! This debate will not stop. Everyone has their own opinion and we should
respect that.
